From Overwhelmed to Empowered: A Week of 1:1 Digital Organization Coaching

Ever wonder what it’d be like to have a digital organizer on speed dial to answer your questions? That’s pretty much what a week of 1:1 Voxer/WhatsApp coaching with me is like. I’m virtually by your side to help you finally tackle your digital mess.

Instead of telling you what 1:1 coaching is all about, I want to take you behind the scenes of my week with Client C.

Meet Client C

Client C works full-time and also runs an online business. She described herself as a “digital hoarder”. She was overwhelmed with all the free templates, emails, photos, courses, etc that she had accumulated.

Client C has no trouble organizing her physical spaces but it wasn’t translating to her digital spaces. Her digital clutter was creating a lot of stress and anxiety because there was too much “stuff” and it was a struggle to find what she needed.

She was ashamed of how messy her digital spaces had gotten and embarrassed when she imagined people finding out how out of control her inbox was. I work with so many people who are embarrassed about their digital mess. Neither Client C nor you, need to be embarrassed or ashamed of your digital mess. You’re not alone!

She wasn’t sure where to begin to “dig [herself] out of the hole [she] had created”.

Her main goals for our week together were to:

  1. Get guidance on how to stop “collecting” all the digital things in the first place
  2. Get help organizing her inbox and managing her content ideas.

Our Week Together

Addressing Her Inbox

Client C started by saying, “I feel like my inbox rules my life. I feel like there’s so much, it builds so fast, and I miss important things.“

Her main concerns were:

  1. How can I reduce the number of emails I’m getting? I’ve tried unsubscribing but a lot of these items I do want to receive.
  2. How do I manage the holiday emails? There are so many with all the sales and people launching things.
  3. I’m spending 2-3 hours a day in my inbox. How can I spend less time and keep it manageable?

We talked through several strategies to automate her inbox so technology could take some of the work off her plate and reduce the time she needed to spend in her inbox. Client C has a Gmail and an Outlook inbox, so I customized my suggestions to each of those systems.

I encouraged her to tackle her inboxes on a computer rather than her phone. Phones are convenient for quick checks, but not when it comes to organizing and managing our inboxes in depth.

Client C described our first day as “wildly helpful” and she was “excited to try the strategies”.

Managing The To-Do List & Resources

As an online business owner who also works a full-time job, Client C had a big “to-do list” of resources she wanted to explore and learn from. She ended up with hundreds of emails with resources to explore and over a hundred open tabs she’d been meaning to address. The pressure to do All The Things was real.

Before we could organize her resources, a little tough love was required. We talked through the fact that no matter how great the resources might be, there was no way she could get through all of them without it becoming a full-time job.

I gave Client C some guiding questions to ask herself when deciding if a resource was worth keeping and exploring or deleting. After recognizing that keeping it all wasn’t beneficial, we discussed the practical nuts and bolts of creating a resource hub for her.

We settled on a tool she’s already using, Notion, and talked about different tags and categories to include to make her hub easily searchable as well as maintaining it so it doesn’t become overwhelming and unruly with too many resources.

After just a few days, Client C was feeling “more grounded and calm”. She recognized how “noisy” the online space can be and recognized she needed to intentionally protect her time and energy.

Other Areas

After we worked through her two main goals we had time to also discuss Pinterest, habits to keep the digital clutter away for the long haul, and consolidating where she stores files.

How’s Client C Doing Now?

At the end of the week, Client C said she felt like a cloud had been lifted. She walked away with, “so much clarity on how to organize the areas that were stressful for me. You provided personalized options, resources, and clear next steps to help me keep going!”

One big win she shared was going from 876 emails in her inbox to 0! In her own words, “You really helped me feel empowered to make these changes and I feel like I lost so many pounds of digital clutter weight!”

Finally Client C said:

I HIGHLY recommend working with Lisa! She is a genius when it comes to digital organization. What I appreciated most about working with her was how realistic and practical her advice was. She also customized it to me vs. just sharing generic tips. I was ashamed to share some of the issues I was having with digital clutter, but Lisa was so kind, non-judgmental, and made me feel seen and understood from the start. I’m so glad I found her and she is truly a gem in the online space!

Ready to book your own week of coaching?

Here’s how it works: Coaching takes place via Voxer or WhatsApp. Both are free messaging apps you use to send text or voice messages, pictures, and short videos.

I’m available to you Monday through Friday between the hours of 9am and 3pm CST to ask your questions. You can send questions outside of those hours (in fact, I encourage it!) but those are my coaching hours during which I’ll respond.

You might not hear back from me instantly but I’ll respond within 2 hours. It’s usually much quicker but if I’m at a dentist appointment, it’s a bit hard to respond. 😉
